Police open fire while responding to report of armed man in Palms - Los Angeles Times

Los Angeles police shot a man Saturday afternoon while responding to a report of a person with a gun in Palms .

Police received a radio call reporting a man with a gun on Venice Boulevard between Sepulveda Boulevard and the 405 Freeway about 12:40 p.m., said Officer Drake Madison, an LAPD spokesman.

Officers responded to the scene and made contact with the man, and shortly before 1 p.m., one or more of them opened fire, striking him at least once, Madison said.

The man was taken to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, said Capt. Daniel Dobbs of the Culver City Fire Department. Information about his condition wasn’t available.

Venice Boulevard is closed between Sepulveda Boulevard and Globe Avenue until further notice. Motorists were advised to avoid the area while police investigated.
