Dr. George Car Show Scheduled In Palm Desert - Patch.com

From PSCA: Palm Springs Cruisin' Association's (PSCA) 18th Annual Dr. George Charity Car Show takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Saturday, February 8, 2020. As the main annual fundraising event held by PSCA, Desert Cancer Foundation receives 100 percent of the net proceeds. This show is one of the largest one-day car events on the West Coast and the oldest car show in the Coachella Valley, which includes a number of activities, in addition to the cars on view.


There will be over 1,000 vehicles displayed on over 20 plus acres. Participants come from several states to show their exotic sports cars to classic hot rods. There will also be antique vehicles, restored and original collectable cars, trucks and motorcycles. In addition, this year will feature a section of famous cars from movies, including "Ford v Ferrari", "Gone in 60 Seconds", the TV version of "Batman", Grace Kelly's car from "To Catch A Thief", and others.

At the culmination of the event, trophies will be presented to "The Best in Show," "The Best in Show – Special Interest," "The Best in Show – Young Guns," and others by local news personality, Daytona Everett of NBC Palm Springs.

An exciting highlight of the event will be the 2nd Annual Dr. George Pedal Car Race benefitting DCF and YMCA of the Desert. Dressed in racing attire and driving mini race cars, the young drivers will race to cross the finish line. Pedal car racers can be sponsored by local businesses, and have the opportunity to spruce up their pedal car and race attire. Pedal car race drivers will be kids selected from the local YMCA of the Desert.

Notable participant in the show are Allen Grant, a legendary Shelby American team race car driver, an owner of a Lola MK6 GT. This car is a prototype of only three ever built, and was featured on "Jay Leno's Garage" in 2017. Also, Peter Brock, designer of the World Champion Shelby Daytona Coupe and 1963 Corvette Stringrays, and Indianapolis Hall of Fame Crew Manager Jim McGee. These guests will be interviewed by the voice of the Irwindale Raceway, Bob Beck, and popular radio and social media voice, Randy Kardoon.

New to the event this year is an exciting auction of cars during the show, presented by Tate Auctions. Those interested in selling or buying a car can contact Tate Auctions directly.

There will also be live entertainment, a beer garden, food trucks, and a variety of vendors offering jewelry, clothing, and a car related items for purchase. In addition attendees can participate in the silent auction and raffle to win various prizes, with the funds supporting DCF.

The car show is held in honor of the late Dr. Sebastian George, who was a highly regarded oncologist and co-founder of Desert Cancer Foundation. For over 25 years, Desert Cancer Foundation has provided financial support to under-insured/uninsured local residents in the midst of cancer care. Each dollar donated to Desert Cancer Foundation translates into over $10 of cancer treatment. Since 2003, this event has raised $947,000 in support of Desert Cancer Foundation.
