Amelie Anstett was two months late submitting her YouTube audition video to be a featured dancer on Justin Bieber's "Purpose Tour" in 2016.
The then 12-year-old Palm City native had been dancing for only five years, so it was a long shot, to say the least. But then it happened.
Amelie got the call — she was one of four teens chosen to dance alongside Bieber in front of about 20,000 people at his Jacksonville concert in June 2016.
It's all been uphill from there.
Amelie, now 15, has made a career for herself over the last few years in Hollywood — dancing, acting, singing and modeling for Bieber, Universal Studios, Disney and now, her latest project, Sebastian Yatra's Totto clothing line.
“Ever since I was little, I just always wanted to be on the stage," said Amelie, who began lessons at the Dance Academy of Stuart when she was 7 years old. "And once I found dancing, I knew that was what I wanted to do. It’s my passion.”
She attended Citrus Grove Elementary and Hidden Oaks Middle School before switching to online courses that better fit her schedule commuting to and from Los Angeles frequently.

The Anstett family still resides in Palm City, though, so Amelie said she gets to visit her hometown in between gigs. Her former studios also let her come back and dance whenever she wants.
“I wouldn’t be where I am today without my start in Palm City,” Amelie said. "This is what I want to do. It’s such a cut-throat industry, but this is my career."
It's rare that Hollywood agents take on children from the East Coast, she said. Landing the role as one of Bieber's tour dancers was the catalyst that started her career.
Amelie formed a strong connection with Bieber, she said, also becoming an ambassador for his clothing line, Drew.
She had auditioned and was chosen to be on Lifetime's reality TV show "Dance Moms," but it was canceled before Amelie got the opportunity to appear.

After starring in a few commercials for Universal Studios and Disney's Descendants 3 “DescenDANCE Party” ad, Amelie had built a reputation in the entertainment industry. And she has no intent to stop.
The teen is set on finishing high school and plans to attend college in California while continuing to audition for any and every opportunity thrown her way.
“I always knew that I wanted to go this route. Always," Amelie said. "But I thought I would become like everyone else — just another dancer. And now I’ve created this amazing career for myself. You never know what’s going to happen, but I'm following this path and we'll see what happens.”
