Palm Bay Halloween party homicide suspect turns self in, police say - Florida Today

A 23-year-old man wanted for questioning in the shooting death of a Palm Bay man at a Halloween house party has turned himself in to authorities at the Brevard County Jail, Palm Bay police reported.

Jarrod Nasief  Deenah was wanted by detectives in connection with the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Ethan O'Neal. He was being processed at the county jail in Sharpes on a homicide charge. He is set to go before a county judge for a bond hearing on Monday for second-degree murder, records show.

Police had thought Deenah was armed and hiding in the Orlando area. He was the subject of an intense search in the hours following the shooting that took place on Daysland Avenue in the southwest portion of the city.

A motive for the shooting was not given. It was also not immediately known where the weapon that killed O'Neal came from or if it was recovered.

Police said a large scale house party was taking place about 1 a.m. Officers had pulled up to the house when O'Neal, bloodied by a shot to the torso approached them for help. The patrol officials immediately worked to treat the wound. O'Neal was then transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne where doctors later pronounced him dead, police reported.

Both the suspect and O'Neal have strong ties to the Palm Bay area. A host of tributes for O'Neal, who had attended Bayside High School, were seen on Facebook over the weekend. O'Neal had also played drums and wanted to join the NBA, according to a post from his church, Life Changers Outreach in Melbourne.

"There was no such thing as being sad around this young man because he’d always find a way to cheer you up. Full of life and energy always came from him! We love you Ethan," the church posted on its Facebook page.

"Please let’s continue to uplift the family with prayer in this time of grief."
