A day after Palm Bay police investigated three homicides, detectives were called back to one of the neighborhoods after a report of a fourth shooting left a man critically injured.
It wasn't known Wednesday whether the latest shooting is connected to the gunfight that left two men dead in the same neighborhood early Tuesday, said Lt. Tim Lancaster of the Palm Bay Police Department..
Police were called to the residential area on Northview Street Northeast just after 12 a.m. Wednesday after receiving reports a man was wounded.
The unidentified man was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne.
Early Tuesday, a shooting on James Street involved a gunfight that claimed two lives, Jalyn Decosta, 21, of Jacksonville, and Jerome Harris, 23, of Melbourne.
When Palm Bay and Melbourne officers arrived in the northeast neighborhood, they found Decosta fatally shot.
They found Harris fatally shot in a gray car on a grassy lot at the intersection of Liberia Avenue and Henry Street.
The body of a third, unidentified 61-year-old man was found in a vehicle in the middle of Agora Road about 5 miles from the gunfight. Police have said this case is not related to the gunfight.
Late Tuesday, police were questioning two unidentified men.
Since Halloween, the city has seen four homicides, including the three Tuesday.
Investigations into the Tuesday and Wednesday shootings are ongoing.
